At the beginning of each month, I make a list of content ideas based on holidays, notable events, and what’s trending. This can help you plan your filming/posting schedule around what’s timely and relevant! As I mentioned in my “trendjacking” blog, posting about relevant topics gives your marketing a major engagement boost. Welcome to the summer slow down. Here’s what to expect this July…

Btw, the fact that it’s already Q3 is insane.

HOLIDAYS

July 1st: Canada DAY. According to Wikipedia, this is what it means: (French: Fête du Canada) is the national day of Canada. A federal statutory holiday, it celebrates the anniversary of Canadian Confederation which occurred on July 1, 1867, with the passing of the British North America Act, 1867 where the three separate colonies of the United Canadas, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick were united into a single Dominion within the British Empire called Canada.

As an American, I’m not sure how to twist this into real estate content. Maybe you can share a video from one of our favorite Canadian realtors, Matt Lionetti…

Maybe you can compare some differences between the American and Canadian real estate markets? You know what, by the time you’re reading this it’s probably too late to produce content on this anyway, so forget everything I just said.

July 4th: Independence Day. Let’s first cover what NOT to post.

Do us all a favor and don’t just share some generic graphic that says “Happy Fourth.” Does that do anything for anyone? It provides zero value and gets zero engagement. Also, PLEASE don’t post firework videos. It’s a meme at this point and nobody cares.

These are examples from our content platform, join here.

So, what can you post?

You can make some jokes about “getting independence” from your landlord?

You can post actual photos/videos of your family and what you’re doing. A lot of times the personal, heartfelt, family/hobby oriented content performs better than the real estate shit. Vacation content reminds your clients and followers that you’re not just a real estate robot and that you have a life outside of slangin’ homes. It also helps people respect your time more when they see you doing stuff that isn’t directly related to work.

You CAN send an email blast. Yes, I think the 4th of July is an appropriate holiday to send one. Compare the market this year vs. last year on Independence Day, invite clients to a BBQ (sounds horrible), or talk about the best spots to celebrate the 4th in your home town. OHH I got it! Make a list of the best places to watch fireworks in your city and rank em! Genius!

Other than that there aren’t any other holidays in July besides the one your client will take the second they open escrow. And they won’t have service.

NOTABLE SPORTING EVENTS

Baseball is still going on. Yankees vs. Mets will be interesting in the Subway Series in late July. Go Yanks.

July 1-24: Tour de France. If Lance Armstrong isn’t racing (he’s not) you’re not watching so who cares.

July 7: NBA Summer league starts. Good time to see the Rookies play. Also, NBA free agency is about to go down with big names on the move like Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, the most insufferable athlete on the planet. Not sure how you could tie this into real estate.

July 14-17: The Open Championship. Maybe we get some fire press conferences from the LIV players that can be turned into memes or audios.

July 20-24: Summer X Games. Nobody cares. BUT, there may be some viral videos of horrific crashes that we can throw captions on! Something like, “When the deal’s about to close but you shattered your tibula on a quarter pipe.”

The Real Estate Market

Now more than ever the real estate market is a fascinating subject. Gone are the days where you can just regurgitate the same talking points about “how crazy” everything is and how you need to write an offer site unseen, 20% over to get a counter. The shift has begun, rates are rising, and buyers/sellers need your expertise more than ever. As Lisa Chinatti put it in this week’s Walk Thru: over the last two-three years, lots of buyers and sellers would choose the first agent they talked to because the market was so hot it didn’t matter. Times are a changin’.

Pop Culture/Movies

Today: The Rise of Gru: Minions

July 8th: Thor Love and Thunder

Nope: A sci fi movie directed by Jordan Peele, the director of Get Out that birthed thousands of hilarious memes. So, maybe we’ll get something from Nope.

Pop culture wise. Not sure there’s much to trendjack right now. Machine Gun Kelly smashed himself in the face with glass at an afterparty… hmm what else.

Nothing.

Except of course Beyonce’s NEW ALBUM on July 29th!!!!! I’m sure there will millions of TikToks, Reels, and audios to use and remix so look out for that!

Have a great fourth of July weekend and may the 4th be with you. 🇺🇸
