At the beginning of each month, I make a list of content ideas based on holidays, notable events, and what’s trending. This can help you plan your filming/posting schedule around what’s timely and relevant! As I mentioned in my trendjacking blog, posting about trending topics gives your marketing a major engagement boost. October basically didn’t even happen.
Here’s what to expect this November…
November 1st: It is officially the Holiday season. Holiday-related Reels, TikToks, and audios are now kosher and will flood our screens for the next 60 days. The good news is that half of the existing real estate population will essentially give up until the New Year as their clients start hitting them with the, “I think we want to wait until the new year” excuse.
But, NOT US! We post MORE content and double down. These next two months are a great opportunity to stand out from your competition and crush your digital marketing while all the newly licensed 2021 agents, who thought this was easy money, drown themselves in Turkey, booze, and excuses.
November 3rd: National Sandwich Day. You can dedicate a post to the pre-made, dry, disgusting, last-minute Safeway sandwiches you pick up on the way to your open house.
For the record I believe these do more harm than good because nobody likes them and they sit and fester in the fridge until the house is sold. Let’s ban these.
November 6th: Daylight Savings Day. This is the “set your clocks back an hour” one. This means we get an extra hour of sleep and an extra, generic email from realtors telling us to set back our clocks. Don’t be one of those agents. Maybe there is a funny Reel/TikTok idea here about ruining an entire day because you showed up an hour early or late to all of your appointments. Maybe not actually. Forget you read that.
November 8th: Election Day. Take this as an opportunity to show how partisan and radicalized you are! Just kidding. But, it is important to understand that if you do post your political preference you probably will alienate some existing and potential clients. Those that agree with you will love you and your content more, but those who do not will probably unfollow you and never work with you. It is something to consider. However, for content purposes it is definitely a good idea to become the expert on certain ballot measures that affect your local housing market. Educate your audience on what they mean and how they might impact real estate transactions, property taxes, etc. Emotions will be running high around this time so good luck.
November 11th: Veterans Day. Today we honor the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. It is celebrated on this day as it marks the anniversary of the end of World War 1.
November 24th: Thanksgiving.
❌ WHAT NOT DO: Post a pic of your food, talk about how tired you are, and send out an insufferable email blast with a Turkey graphic saying, “Gobble gobble.”
✅ WHAT TO DO:
1. Send PERSONALIZED video emails, texts, or DMs to the clients and friends you are truly thankful for. I think video emails are better and less intrusive than a text message because texts can be burdensome to respond to. You can send these throughout the entire month. You don’t have to record 40 of these with a belly full of tryptophan, pie and bourbon.
2. Post about what you’re thankful for in the industry. Agents who let you know the water is turned off before you use the bathroom. Sellers who clean up before showings. Agents who answer the phone and actually communicate. Lock boxes that are easy to find and easy to open.
There are also a ton of Reels/TikTok hooks ideas that you can do this entire month. “Here are THREE things I’m thankful for in real estate: docusign, sellers who leave for showings, and The Broke Agent for giving me these brilliant ideas.” Boom.
3. Don’t do anything real estate related. Show your family, your hometown, and what you do over the Holidays. Post to your stories and give your clients a peek inside your life. Genuine, family content is always great content.
4. Show that you’re still working. Whether it’s a showing or sending out a contract, posting that you’re still doing business shows your clients that the market doesn’t stop for the holidays. Maybe they SHOULD go see that house while every other buyer is in a turkey-coma!
November 25th: Black Friday. You can use this day to educate your audience on “Deals” that are out there. Make a list of houses that have had significant price reductions and send them to your clients.
November 28th: Cyber Monday. A good opportunity to search for deals on closing gifts or client appreciation gifts. Also a good opportunity to join our template platform where we are offering a discount if you use the word “BROKE.”
NOTABLE SPORTING EVENTS
Because of the late start to the baseball season, this November brings us another sports equinox: meaning all four major sports are on during the same month. We have the World Series ending this week, regular season basketball, hockey, and of course football. I’m sure there will be plenty of Lebron and Westbrick memes since the Lakers might go 2 and 80 this year.
November 20th: Also, The World Cup starts on the 20th. Time to pretend like we all care about soccer again.
THE REAL ESTATE MARKET
Rates are up, price reductions are happening, and we’re entering what Byron Lazine calls “The Cold War of Real Estate.”
Buyers don’t want to pull the trigger and sellers who are locked in to lower rates don’t want to sell. Always a good time to calm the fears of the doom and gloom headlines and use charts resources and charts like KCM to help explain and to be the KNOWLEDGE BROKER.
The White Lotus: This show is an absolute 10 out of 10. Plenty of memeable moments. On HBO MAX.
Taylor Swift: The record-breaking album that caused worldwide Spotify outages upon its release is here and has started several TikTok Trends already. Keep scrolling to the “trending sounds” section of this blog for more on that.
The Watcher: This miniseries streams exclusively on Netflix and chronicles the true story of a married couple who, after moving into their dream home in New Jersey, are harassed by letters signed by a stalker who goes by the pseudonym “The Watcher.” The show has been a hit and even features Jennifer Coolidge as an oblivious realtor. There are definitely a few opportunities for real estate memes and jokes with this show.

This sound is a great way to poke fun at yourself or the place you do business in.
