The entire industry has been focused on the messaging around the new housing market and rising interest rates. We know agents who don’t make the pivot won’t survive in this market.

So most people go back to the basics, head down, grind it out.

Lisa Chinatti, Broker Owner of the number one team in Massachusetts, is going with another approach: having fun.

Here’s what she shared on a recent 5AM Call.

A Shift in Attitude

Over the past few weeks, team leaders, brokers, and agents have felt a new type of pressure. The market is changing, sellers want to price the way their neighbors did back in January, and buyers don’t know what to do.

This shift in the market has created a shift in attitude and work habits. As someone committed to your business, you might be sacrificing your personal time while demanding more productivity from yourself and your team.

When Chinatti realized her love for the businesses had been sucked out of her, she realized she needed to shift her priorities quickly.

Last week, I realized I wasn’t having fun. No one around me was having fun either. So I’m willing to bet that some of you feel the same way right now.

Clients Sense Your Energy

Don’t forget that clients are energy suckers. Sometimes, this means they absolutely drain you (we all know what that feels like).

But it also means that clients feel and sense your energy.

If you’re working with a seller and feeling anxious or nervous about the market, guess what? They’ll instantly become an anxious and nervous seller who calls you daily asking why their home hasn’t sold, wondering if they missed their opportunity to sell.

Similarly, with buyers, they question whether they should be making the purchase. If the market is going to crash, is this really a good time to buy?

And then in the back of their mind, every client will think, ‘Well shoot, Mary always talked about how much she has fun she has house shopping with her agent Bobby, maybe I should just go work with Bobby.’

The bottom line is that the energy you bring into your relationship with your client will carry over into your transactions with them. By staying positive and bringing in some fun, everyone will be better off.

Have Fun during the Market Shift

Now, you don’t need to plan crazy parties and let confetti cannons fly in your offices to have fun. But don’t lose sight of why you got into this business or the things that light your soul. Incorporate things you love into your personal and professional life.

Chances are, you’re already doing what you must do to have a bulletproof business. You are smart and savvy business owners who have grit and determination. You seek out the knowledge you need and are willing to adapt to changing markets.

You can do all this—and you can have more. You can build a successful empire AND love what you do so much that it doesn’t feel like work.

So, remember to take some time to yourself to do the things that light you up. And bring that energy with you everywhere you go.
